Bistec a la Plancha ~ Cuban Grilled Steak

"Si no tienes las cebollas, olvidate!" If you don't have the onions, feghetaboutit!

I wish I could tell you that that was a quaint saying my abuelita used to tell me, but sadly, it's not. It just came to me as I was frying up my steak for dinner this evening. And it's really quite true-- if you toss the onion, garlic, citrus marinade, or mojo, you're missing the best part!!

Cook the Cover ~ Chicken Khao Soi

In this series, I will be cooking the delectable cover recipes of Bon Appetit magazine with the tantalizing prize of being featured on their blog and/or Facebook page. Wish me luck!

Since receiving my subscription, I've cooked quite a few of BA's cover recipes. Only one so far, December 2011's peppermint meringues, has been recognized in their FB album dedicated to such attempts. Needless to say, I was thrilled but I would love to be featured in the similar blog post on BonAppetit.com.

So going forward, you can expect a cook the cover post on the first of the month. Good. I'm glad we had this talk.

How do you spend your Sunday evenings?

Some people write "To-Do" lists.  I write "To-Cook" lists.

3.  Kale Chips.
6.  Season Cast Iron Grill Pan.
7.  Clarify butter, aka Ghee.

Of the 7, I completed 5.  Of those 5, 2 were epic fails.

Sunday Brunch: Cafe Stella

Welcome to my Sunday Brunch series.  If you make it out of your pajamas before 2p, you might enjoy these brunch spots.

Moroccan Eggs.

Two fried eggs with Stewed Cumin Tomatoes and Spiced Lamb Sausage.

Delicious food.

Terribly slow and surly service.  I wonder how their clearly over-worked kitchen will handle the restaurant's upcoming expansion.
